*with or without Whole Home Inspection Service
Termites are a worry for everyone that lives in a wood frame home. Termites don’t pay rent and don’t deserve to be in your home, literally. Many FHA loans are currently requiring that a termite inspection be performed before the loan is written.
Facts About Termites:
Termites cause about 3 billion dollars of damage to home and business structures every year.
- There are over 2,100 known species of termites.
- Termites live in colonies much like ants do. Up to 2 million termites can inhabit each colony.
- Termites live in colonies that are highly organized and are connected through an extensive amount of tunnels.
- “Worker” termites are working 24 hours a day digesting wood fibers and other forms of cellulose which they share with the other members of the colony.
- Once a source of food is found (a home), a pheromone trail is deposited as a map for other members of the colony to follow to the source.
- A queen termite can live up to 25 YEARS and lay THOUSANDS of eggs a day!!!! At 1000 eggs per day, that’s over 9 MILLION eggs in her life! Hopefully, the queen moves from one location to another location because that amount will do some damage to a home.
- Termites call 49 of 50 states home. KANSAS AND MISSOURI ARE ON THAT LIST.
